Memphis, TN (September 24, 2007) - The Shops of Saddle Creek kicks off a month long 20th Anniversary celebration with a new dog-friendly awareness program called “Paws for a Cause” on October 6, 2007 from 10 am to 3 pm. Being a “dog-friendly” shopping center means Saddle Creek allows dog owner´s to bring their leashed, well-behaved dogs to the common areas as well as inside some of the stores. Included in the celebration will be pet adoptions, along with a variety of special events, demonstrations and activities.
10am to 3pm - Local animal shelters will be on hand to gain awareness for their worthy missions and find great homes for their pets. Invited to attend are organizations from Collierville, Germantown, Memphis, and the Mid South Therapy Dogs.
10am to 3pm, The SPCA will be taking pet photos at Saddle Creek to raise money for the participating shelters. For a $5 donation, you and your pet will receive two poses and the profits from the photos will be allocated among each participating organizations.
10am to 3pm, Lil’ John’s AniMall will have free “Doggy Bags” for all the pets attending. The gifts will include dog treats, coupons and more.
10am to 3pm – Peticatures provided by Andrew Chandler. For only $5, you can capture the unique personality of your pet with original Peticatures. The profits from the Peticatures are allocated among each participating organization.
11am to 3pm, Celebrity Pet Wash – For a $10 donation, local celebrities will wash your pets. Sponsored by the SPCA, the profits from the celebrity pet wash will be allocated among each participating organization. Tentatively scheduled to appear are:
11am to 12pm – Kym Clark, Ron Childers, Bill Lunn, Ursula Madden and Brooke Sanders from Action News 5.
12pm to 1pm – Richard Ransom from News Channel 3.
1pm to 2 pm – Cameron Harper, and Dana Rebik from ABC 24/CW 30 and Brian Elder from Kix 106.
2pm to 3 pm – Dana Rebik from ABC 24/CW30
1pm – Hollywood Feed proudly sponsors the “Dog and Me” Look-alike Contest. If you think you look like your pet, then here’s your chance to win gift certificates to Hollywood Feed. First place wins $75, second place wins $50 and third place wins $25.
“Being dog-friendly at Saddle Creek is a wonderful amenity that fits shoppers’ lifestyles,” said Kenneth Taylor, general manager. “Dogs are a special part of many families, and we love that this is a place where shoppers share family experiences together.”
“Dog-friendly” signage is located throughout the center at participating stores. For example, stores that allow dogs inside have a “Dogs Welcome” water bowl at their front door, and security has Canine Code of Conduct cards that explain the regulations and common courtesy policies.
